About Nathan Stone

Welcome to the home of Nathan Stone Art.

Watch the video below to learn a bit about me and my process.

I’ve always been creative. Both of my parents are artistic and exposed my brother and me to all types of creative art forms since we were very young. I loved drawing, especially with pen and ink or graphite.

On July 4th, 2019, a severe injury to my C5 vertebrae rendered me a quadriplegic. This is a spinal cord injury which caused me to lose most movement below my chest. I have some control over my biceps and shoulders, but I have no hand control.

Shortly after I came home from the hospital in late 2019, my mom brought over a new art medium - alcohol ink. My mom, wife, and I figured out a way to adapt common things around the house to help me paint with these inks. I usually mount the paper to a lazy susan so I can turn the painting around and work on all the sides. We attached a hair dryer to a c-pap hose and that gets velcroed around my fingers so I can move the alcohol and ink around with forced air.

In the beginning, I was hardly able to spend 10 minutes painting before getting fatigued. Now I can paint for several hours before needing a break. Not only does painting relax me and make me feel successful, but it also helps work out my arms and shoulders and keeps them strong.

I hope you love my art pieces as much as I loved making them.

Thanks for visiting my shop!
